This month’s theme is ‘The Art of Prayer, the Mystics Way’. This is in honour of Ram Dass, a modern holy man & mystic who passed away recently at the age of 88 in Maui, Hawaii. John was just with him 3 weeks ago.

Join John for our last Webinar of the year. He would like to do it in memory of Ram Dass, a mystic and spiritual leader of the counter culture in America. John was priveliged enough to have spent the last 4 years learning from him on his retreats in Maui. His whole life was dedicated to service and loving life.
A mystic is a person dedicated to the mystery of life. What lessons can we learn from someone like Ram Dass? He would often say ‘I am loving awareness; I am loving awareness’. He became the mantra which he chanted ‘ram, ram, ram…’ Rama is one of the names for God in Hinduism; representing ‘loving awareness’.
One of the keys to the mystic way is a practice of loving devotion involving prayer. True prayer is the practice of dropping our selfishness and allowing the subtle grace inside of us to rise up and lead our lives. How can we do this? John will lead participants in a heart-beat meditation followed by some simple practices and chanting to connect to prayer and devotion. A key part of this is learning to listen to the wind inside of us. Simple chants to the great mother with a traditional yoga and African flavour will be performed and taught to help everyone move closer to their hearts.

Each Webinar starts with a guided meditation, some chanting and an invocation in isiXhosa to lift the energy.
John will give a 20 min talk to introduce this month’s theme. People can then ask questions. If there is time we will carry on with our ‘Dream circle’ where people will have an opportunity to share their dreams with the group. A recording will be sent to each participant, minus the ‘dream sharing’ to maintain confidentiality.
