Human Dreams - part 1
In this new monthly webinar series we will be exploring the world of Dreams.
Dreams are a central part of being human. We all dream. Our dreams help us navigate our world, and like any of our senses, the more we stretch and explore our dreams, the stronger and more dynamic they become.
This webinar series will focus on creating a Dream circle. Sometimes people can’t see the magic in their dreams. We all have a blind spot or blinkers to our lives and dreams. Webinar participants will have an opportunity to share their dreams with the group and receive feedback from John. Community support can be vital to help activate our dreams.
John will expand on his ‘dream teachings’ with an explanation on the different levels of dreams.
Leve 1 - The Mundane or ordinary
Level 2 - The Psychological or egoic dreams where we focus on ourselves and our own story
Level 3 - The mystical - transpersonal dreams where we connect more deeply to our consciousness and the world around us.
Many people struggle with remembering their dreams and then navigating their dreams in such a way to fulfil their destiny. In more indigenous cultures people would speak to their elders and share their dreams. In our fast paced modern world their is often a lack of deeper listening with people too busy and preoccupied with the noise of technology.
✨ This webinar series is about creating a safe space where people can slow down and listen to their own dreams and the dreams of others in the circle. This has the potential to bring deep healing on an individual and collective level.
The next 3 monthly Webinars will explore:
Sat 31st Jan - Human Dreams - those dreams with people, family, community. Dreams that connect people to their own egoic struggles, emotions and personal dramas. This fits into the second level of dreams. It is very important because without a strong foundation in who we are it is difficult to let go and connect to more mystical dream states.
Sat 28th Feb - Animal & Plant Dreams - John will be speaking live from the Okavango Delta in Botswana. He will be taking a break in between his ‘Dreams & Tracking retreats’ after being on Safari. The focus of this weather is plant and animal dreams. What do they look like and how are they drawing us deeper into the world of nature? John will share a few stores of these dreams and discuss how animals and plants are trying to communicate with us.
Tuesday 31st March - Spirit Dreams - These are dreams where we experience the divine. A wonderful example is Carl Jung’s description of what he terms “numinosum”, which refers to a profound, often mystical experience that transcends ordinary awareness. A key question is ‘how is the Spirit of life calling us in these dreams’? They can have an otherworldly feeling and can signify a ‘death’ of our personal ego. This can bring feelings of profound loss, discomfort but also joy and bliss. We will discuss these ideas and more…
Techniques to stimulate Dream recall:
🌈Various guided meditations will be used to stimulate dream recall including chanting & shamanic drumming. Sangoma's like John use the drum and chanting to journey and perform 'Soul retrieval' for individuals and community. Soul loss or soul poverty is seen as one of the root causes of 'dream loss' or low dream recall.
Benefits As people rest within to the sound of the drum and their heart-beat they can experience more energy, vitality, happiness and the potential to remember more of their dreams.
🌈John will include teachings around 'sleep hygiene' and how to prepare your body and mind for restful sleep. A third aspect to this will involve
Manifest your Dreams - Merge your twilight worlds to fully embrace your life.
Each Webinar runs as a ceremony with a guided meditation, some chanting and an invocation in isiXhosa to lift the energy. They last 75 mins.
John will give a 20 min talk to introduce this month’s theme. People can then ask questions.
