The 'Way of Ubuntu' talk at InsightLA

The Way of ‘Ubuntu’ (humanity): Re-awakening the 3rd Jewel (the Sangha)

Talk at InsightLA in Santa Monica, USA.

Sindo portrait.jpg

We are all born human, that is clear. However, in order to connect to our life essence, our true nature & true humanity, we have to make a decision, a decision to activate our ‘umbilini’ (kundalini) energy.

As a traditional healer from South Africa, and mindfulness practitioner in the zen tradition, John Lockley will speak about the third jewel in Buddhism, the ‘Sangha’. The sangha is much bigger than our friends and community, it reflects our humanity, the blood that binds us all and our collective ancestry. John will teach people how to ‘activate’ their ‘umbilini’ energy through shaking medicine, heart-beat meditation and ancestral veneration. This involves, cultivating deep love and gratitude for our ancestors and the sacrifices they made in order for us to be born human.

There will be an opportunity to buy John’s bestselling book, ‘Leopard Warrior’ & audio teachings ‘Way of the Leopard,’ both produced by Sounds True.

John will be running a one day workshop on Saturday 18th.

Contact: programs@insightla.org or call +1 310.450.1821

Private Healing sessions: John will be available for private healing sessions by appointment from the 19th – 26th August.  To make an appointment please email info@johnlockley.com.

Divinations & Healings in Los Angeles

John will be available in Los Angeles for a limited time to offer Divinations and Healings.

AVAILABILITY: August 19, 22, 23, 25 12 PM - 5 PM. Time slots are 12 - 1, 1:15 - 2:15, 2:45 - 3:45, 4 -5.

Divination OR Plant Healing

Clients need to indicate which session they prefer. For plant healing John requires about 24 hours to mix the medicinal plants.

Do you want to connect to your Ancestors?
Are you spiritually lost and seeking Direction?
Do you often wonder what your Dreams are saying?

If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions then John can help you. John is an ancestral healer, diviner, and traditional healer from South Africa with over 20 years experience.

Divination: 'Throwing the bones'
As a traditional sangoma John is a trained 'diviner' and he receives messages from the ancestral world through dreams, trance dancing and 'throwing the bones'.

Each session is a ceremony whereby John chants in isiXhosa and creates a circle with tobacco. He chants the names of the client's ancestors into the circle. As the bones fall they create a constellation, representing the client's life. John speaks about the constellation, indicating the client's strengths and challenges. In keeping with the sangoma way, John often gives clients home-work involving private ceremonies or meditations.

NB: These are not fortune telling sessions, but rather sessions to help people discover their gifts, and overcome their challenges. The power of these sessions is dependent on the client’s intention to work on themselves. John is simply a guide. The stronger the client's intention to realise their destiny or life path, the more energy is given to 'the bones'.

Suitable for:
People searching for more direction in their lives, and a way to connect to their bones (ancestors).

Plant Healing
Clients place their feet in a mixture of plant medicine and warm water. They soak their feet for about 20 minutes. During this time John chants in isiXhosa, rattles and encourages the client to listen to their heart beat. Heat in the form of either incense or moxa sticks is applied to the soles of the feet to aid the flow of energy.
Plant healing occurs over three days. The first occurs with John, then the plant mixture is given to the client and John demonstrates how to use the simple mixture for days 2 & 3.

Suitable for:
People who are suffering from fatigue; trauma, emotional or physical.
These plant cleanses are also very helpful to aid in Dream recall.
* This is one of the primary techniques used by traditional healers throughout Southern Africa to cleanse the spirit and help people connect to their ancestors and dreams.

Time:  Each Divination ceremony lasts approximately one hour. An hour is allotted for plant healing sessions, though the client's feet soak for about 20 minutes.

Divination Cost:  $195
Plant Healing Cost: $250

The Leopard is one of the most loved and revered animal totems in Africa. ‘Leopard Warrior’ is a call for people to listen to their inner nature and face their own shadows. For many people it means facing their wounds, their vulnerability and therein lies the alchemy for our transformation. Sangomas are traditional healers/ shamans from South Africa. They are called in a profound, ancient way via dreams and a mysterious illness to become mystic healers. John was born to become a Sangoma and recalls his odyssey from civil war in South Africa, Zen Buddhist meditation in South Korea to prophetic dreams and a ten-year apprenticeship under MaMngwevu, a traditional Xhosa woman from Nelson Mandela’s tribe. John talks about ‘humanity’ (Ubuntu) and his quest to find an end to war which began for him through listening to his dreams and accepting his ‘calling illness’.

Leopard Warrior is a pioneering book bridging South African traditional spirituality and modern Western Psychology.

John will be giving a one day 'Way of the Leopard Warrior' workshop on Saturday at East West Book store, followed by private healing/ Divination sessions on Monday 3rd Sep.

Ubuntu, Dreams and Inner Visions in Montreal, Canada

John Lockley is one of the first white men in recent history to be initiated a senior Sangoma (Shaman) in the Xhosa tradition in South Africa, the tribe of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. His apprenticeship in post-Apartheid South Africa took him 10 gruelling years to complete, from 1997 to 2007.

This evening will provide a rare glimpse into the unknown world of South-African Mysticism....

Ubuntu,dreams & inner visions

Ubuntu teachings describe a system of growing our souls, allowing us to emancipate ourselves from our individual egos, and expand outwards to the larger community.

Ubuntu means humanity and acting in a way that is considerate, kind, and which involves a deep listening to ourselves and others.

'I am who I am because of who we all are'

There exists a common bond between us all and it is through this bond, through the quality of our interactions with our fellow human beings, that we discover our own human qualities.

We affirm our humanity when we acknowledge that of others.

John Lockley will also talk about the importance of dreaming.

Dreams are a gateway to our immortality and help us navigate the world of the living.

As we become more conscious of our dreams, we become more conscious of our waking lives, of our inner landscape. We are also preparing ourselves spiritually for our final sleep, when we die and leave our bodies.

John will expand on the three levels of dreaming and will teach us how to distinguish between the mundane dreams of everyday life, dreams engaging our psychological or emotional selves and finally prophetic dreams.

This conference will be a prelude to the 2 day Ancestral healing ceremony entitled: The Way of the Leopard

Way of the Leopard Workshop in London

Details

This one day workshop is based on John Lockley’s bestselling debut book, Leopard Warrior: A Journey into the African Teachings of Ancestry, Instinct & Dreams. It will be a joyful exploration of Ubuntu (Humanity) and what it means to be fully human, alive and connected to the natural world. John will teach participants how to connect to their life purpose through the ancient South African traditional teachings of Ubuntu. These teachings speak about the interconnectedness of all life. The workshop will be an exploration of ancestors, dreams and the practice of trance dancing.

You will learn how to connect to your ancestors in a timeless African way, and how to dance like the Leopard and let your spirit flow. To understand your life purpose it is important to connect to your bones, the roots of your being. Would you like to feel more alive and connected with your life purpose? Then join us for this remarkable day of meditation, dance and mystical teachings.

John is one of the first white men, in recent history, to become a fully initiated sangoma in the Xhosa lineage of South Africa. He was born, in 1971, into a divided Apartheid South Africa, with the mark of the sangoma on his face – a band of white birth skin around the eyes. At 18, John was serving in the South African army as a medic (during the war with Angola in the 1980s) when he had a strong, prophetic dream calling him to train as a Xhosa sangoma. He immediately began to suffer from the thwasa, a severe period of ill-health that is inherent in all ancient shamanic cultures which can only be cured through apprenticeship to a shamanic teacher. Because of the restrictions of Apartheid (which ended in 1994) it would take John seven years to find a Xhosa teacher. During the early days of his calling he trained as a Zen student under renowned Zen Master, Su Bong, completing an intensive three-month kyol che in a Buddhist monastery in South Korea. He was then invited by the Grand Master Dae Soen Sa Nim to join his “monk army”, but the strength of his sangoma calling drew him back to South Africa.

Eventually, post-Apartheid, John met Mum Ngwevu, a well-known Xhosa Sangoma medicine woman, in one of the poorest townships in South Africa. She had foreseen his arrival in a dream and began his 10-year apprenticeship, giving him the initiated name Ucingolwendaba, meaning messenger or connector between people and cultures.
John now divides his time between South Africa, Europe and the U.S

"A beautiful invitation to open your eyes and heart to whole new worlds of shamanic healing and spirit. A reminder to trust your dreams and inspiration, and to love, dance and awaken to mystery."

Jack Kornfield,  Author of A Path With Heart

"Leopard Warrior is truly a remarkable account of the initiation of a white male in South Africa into becoming a Sangoma. This is quite a sign to be entrusted with these deep ancestral mysteries. John Lockley shares a wealth of stories that will bring tears to your eyes as well as inspire you to want to learn more. The exercises he provides are simple yet transformative. This book is brilliant!"

- Sandra Ingerman, MA author of Soul Retrieval and Walking in Light: The Everyday Empowerment of Shamanic Life

Details

Ancestral Healing Ceremony in Ireland

THE WAY OF THE LEOPARD WARRIOR

TO RECONNECT TO YOUR 'UBUNTU' (HUMANITY) & INNER VISION

A 3 day ancestral healing ceremony/retreat based on John Lockley’s bestselling book ‘Leopard Warrior’.

What the world needs now more than anything else are people who are Wild, unapologetically WILD and connected to their human spirit.

The ceremony is based on the ancient Xhosa traditional healing ceremony performed in South Africa to help reconnect people to their Ancestors, Dreams and ‘Ubuntu’ (Humanity).

As a traditionally trained Xhosa sangoma, John has been immersed in this process for over 20 years in South Africa. He brings the essence of this to the Western World to initiate people into the ‘way of the bone people’, (Ancestors), helping people to remember their Ancestors and their roots.

‘Ubuntu’ means ‘I am who I am because of who we all are’. In order for us to know where we are going as individuals and a community, we need to reconnect to where we come from. It is a mystical circle encompassing the past, future, physical and unseen worlds.

Welcome to the world of the sangoma for this unique ceremony!

The ceremony will be a mix of stillness, dancing, praying, dreamwork and include a powerful medicinal plant cleanse. It will be performed in a circle with an earth altar as the focal point.

A Key question for all participants is ‘Where is your spirit’, and how is ‘Nature calling you right now’?

• John will teach people how to connect to their Ancestors in a simple, beautiful and profound way.
• The Leopard Dance – a series of shaking movements to stimulate the ‘umbulini’ (Kunalini) energy in the spine to awaken our natural state, our ‘Ubuntu’ (humanity).
• Dreaming – John will speak about the 3 levels of dreaming and mystical/ prophetic dreams and how we can recognise them.
• A core aspect of John’s teachings involves the practice of Heart-Beat Meditation. This is based on the South African drum. It is taught to help quieten the mind, connect with our Soul and feel the rhythm of the earth beneath our feet.
• John will perform a cleansing ceremony with medicinal plants (non-hallucinogenic). People will place their feet in a mixture of plant medicine. It is performed to help ‘open the road’ for people, to enable them to reconnect to their life purpose.

This Ceremony requires all participants to engage with their own process 100%. It requires the hearts of warriors, fearless individuals who are not afraid to face their own Shadows.

Location: This retreat will take part in the beautiful Aloha house in Killorglin; a centre for retreat & relaxation; home of Lomi Lomi, Hawaian Healing in Ireland.

The Way of the Leopard Warrior Ceremony

What does it mean to be a warrior? A Leopard Warrior is a mystical being that is prepared to enter the shadow worlds within and return to this world with magic and mystery to share. To do this requires the courage and fortitude of a warrior; to smile at our wounds & nightmares and see them as an opportunity to grow. What the world needs now are 'Leopard Warriors', spiritual warriors who face their own shadows and bring them into the light. Are you ready?

In this two day Ceremony, John will use guided meditation, prayer, song, dance, drumming, plant medicine (e.g. Pine, White Sage, Rosemary), and intention to help the participants to connect with their inner voice, sharing teachings on “Connecting with our Ancestral Lines” and “Remembering our Dreams”. He will also share experiences from working in the African Bush, how to track animals, helping participants to connect with their heartbeat, re-wilding them and strengthening their ability to move towards their life calling, their destiny.

John teaches about Ubuntu – Humanity – Connecting people to their Ancestors, their own indigenous roots, re-wilding people, connecting them to their dreams and their soul. John is a dreamer, a healer and a divinator who works with Sacred Ceremony, meditation, song, dance and cleansing herbs to help people to connect more fully to themselves, to find their Life Path, their Soul Calling.

To book please email Christine on redochrewoman@yahoo.com or text 07875 676855. Multiple payment options available (Bank Transfer, PayPal, Cheque, Cash)

Ancestral Healing Dance

Ancestral Healing Dance - Workshop/Ceremony in Greystones,

In South Africa traditional healers are called Sangomas. They  use rhythm and dance to connect to the spirit world; the world of nature and the ancestral realm. John will facilitate a 4 hour ceremony through teaching the ‘Xhentsa’ or trance dance. This is an ancient dance that has been performed for thousands of years and was passed down through the centuries from the oldest people in the world, the Khoi San or Bushmen peoples in South Africa, to the current generation.

This dance is also known as the rain dance because it has the power to change nature. It is about energising the spine so the dancer becomes a lightning rod. In Southern Africa it is the kundalini dance because it awakens the ‘umbilini’ or kundalini energy in the spine.

Please bring your prayers, wounds and joy. John will teach people the dance and then use a playlist of traditional sangoma songs and rhythms. The workshop will be run as a ceremony. This ceremony is based on John’s book ‘Leopard Warrior’. After the workshop people will have an opportunity to get a signed copy of his book as well as his audio teachings, ‘The Way of the Leopard’.

John is also available for private healing sessions whilst he is in Dublin. To book for healings email info@johnlockley.com

Hosted by Hot Spot in Greystones

John Lockley’s Biography

John is a traditionally trained healer or shaman known as a sangoma with over 20 years’ experience. He spent 10 years apprenticing under his teacher MaMngwevu, a member of the Xhosa nation, the same tribe as Nelson Mandela & Desmond Tutu, to become one of the first westerners in recent history to be given the title of ‘ligqira elikhulu’ or senior sangoma. John holds an honours degree in clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Health Psychology and peoples’ ability to overcome extreme trauma like breast cancer.

John also has a background in Zen Buddhism and apprenticed under Zen Master Su Bong from South Korea in the early 1990’s. He completed a 3 month silent meditation in a mountain temple in South Korea after which he was invited to become a zen monk. He chose instead to become a sangoma, an African traditional healer.

John is a pioneer in bridging ancient South African healing technology — Sangoma medicine — with the mainstream, Western medical culture. John’s mother is Irish, from Dublin and he has spent his life moving between Ireland & South Africa. He is a true afro-celt healer. John’s work could be summed up in the Xhosa word ‘Masiyembo’ which involves a profound remembering of the human spirit through the practice of dreams, plant medicine and an appreciation of ancestors and our bone family.

The Way of the Leopard Workshop in Dublin

About the Workshop

John now divides his time between South Africa, Europe and the U.S.

Plant Healing - The Sangoma Way

An intensive plant healing retreat in Ixopo, Natal

John will be leading a 3 day plant healing retreat in one of the most beautiful retreat centres in the world, The Buddhist retreat centre in Ixopo, South Africa. This is the fourth year John has taught here and every year it gets stronger. John explains South African traditional healing in the form of the Sangoma culture. He will draw on comparisons with mindful traditions around the world like Buddhism and Yoga to help people understand the depth of the Sangoma culture.

Medicinal plants have been used in African Sangoma culture for hundreds of years - to cleanse and help people to connect to their true nature. This is reflected in conscious dreaming and in a more aware wakeful state. The Sangoma healing culture is one of the most ancient and misunderstood healing systems in the world. Yet up until the 1980’s, more than 80% of South Africans consulted traditional healers and Sangomas.

Participants in this retreat will learn about medicinal plants and their uses and the role of ancestors and dreams.  Please note: Sangomas are spiritual doctors. They work with plants in a different way to herbalists. A Sangoma connects to the spirit of a plant and calls this spirit forth to help heal people. Often these are plants which the sangoma has dreams about. John will work with 3 plants that he has dreams  about, and discuss this ancient culture with participants and demonstrate how they can develop an intimate relationship with the plant world.  He will also discuss how plants are harvested, prepared and sold in South Africa today, forming an intricate triangle of relationships from the rural areas to urban towns and cities.

The story of plants is the story of traditional South African culture. He will demonstrate the Sangoma version of meditative absorption through drumming, chanting and dancing. Every morning there will be a “dream circle” in which dreams will be interpreted.

Important items for participants to bring on the retreat:

  • Please bring a plastic basin which will be used  for  medicinal foot healing. A square washing up basin is sufficient. These can be bought at most supermarkets like Checkers, Pick 'n Pay, Spar etc.
  • A dream journal, pen and paper to take notes.
  • A meditation blanket
  • An open mind ***

Divinations & Healings in Santa Fe

John will be offering private healing sessions in Santa Fe.

Sessions offered:

Divination OR Plant Healing.

Each session is a ceremony whereby he chants in isiXhosa and creates a circle with tobacco.

Cost: $195

The Way of the Leopard Workshop in Santa Fe

The Way of the Leopard: The Art of Listening & Feeling from the Heart of Africa

John Lockley is our guest all the way from South Africa. His life and work are testament to the power of the human spirit, and his teachings guide us to be empowered in a world of chaos. This retreat will be conducted as a ceremony, with chanting, dancing and meditating. A key intention behind John’s teaching is ‘uvula indlela’, opening the road i.e. teaching people how to find their purpose or calling in life through listening to their hearts, dreams and intuition.

John will teach what he calls the 3 Jewels of Indigenous Medicine.
1) Awakening the Heart through Heart-Beat meditation practice
2) Connecting with the Bones - Learning to honour and accept our Ancestors
3) Dreamtime training - Learn the ancient language of the Soul

He will lead the group in Heart-Beat Meditation practice, which involves moving like the Leopard from Stillness to Shaking, from head to toe. The Leopard is one of the main totem animals in Southern Africa amongst traditional healers because it represents raw, primal intelligence and intuitive understanding. In South Africa, the medicine people don’t speak about mindfulness but rather the art of listening. First, we listen to our own hearts then we watch the wind and the animals around us.

In order to listen effectively we need to stimulate our nervous system and WAKE UP. The retreat will involve trance dancing or ‘shaking medicine’ where John will show people how to energise their spines to awaken their intuition. “In order to feel like the leopard, we need to move and dance like the leopard”.

Benefits to Participants:
* Learn a new way to access your Heart-Beat to still your mind and foster relaxation
* Gain a deeper understanding of Ancestors and why it is important to honour them.
* Appreciate your Dreams and learn new ways to interpret & navigate this hidden world.

*********
Pre-registration is required. Registration is $95 and can be paid at https://www.paypal.me/JohnLockley. A limited number of discounted tickets will be offered to those experiencing financial hardship.

About John Lockley

John is a traditional South African healer or Sangoma from Nelson Mandela’s tribe, the Xhosa nation. Sangoma's are traditional shamans or spiritual doctors. The Sangoma culture is one of the oldest living shamanic cultures in the world today.
John spent over 10 years apprenticing under Mum Ngwevu; a traditional Xhosa woman. He was one of the first white men in recent history in South Africa to complete the rigorous Xhosa Sangoma apprenticeship.

He travels the world teaching ‘Ubuntu’ (humanity) workshops, helping people reconnect with themselves, their ancestors and the natural world.

“In the Xhosa tradition I am referred to as an ‘igqira’, the medicine person who ‘holds the lightning rod of the ancestors’. What this means is that I am a lightning conductor or conductor of earth based ancestral energies. What this means for workshop or talk participants is that through me they have a greater opportunity to connect with their dreams and ancestors. It is not me personally, but rather the spirits around me. I am a simple medicine carrier.”

Divinations & Healings in Boulder

Private Healings involving Divination OR a Plant Cleanse

John Lockley will be staying in Boulder and offering workshops and private sessions for those who are connecting with his work. He comes from S. Africa and is a traditional Sangoma (healer or shaman). His incredible journey of growing up during the apartheid and being called by his dreams to become a Sangoma is powerful and inspiring. His teachings and healing can be transformative who are serious about doing self-work and stepping into their gifts. John is an ancestral healer, diviner, and traditional healer from South Africa with over 20 years experience.

If you are interested in private sessions here is the list of what he is offering.

Divination OR Plant Healing.
Clients need to indicate which session they prefer. For plant healing John requires about 24 hours to mix the medicinal plants.

************
• Divination: 'Throwing the bones'

As a traditional sangoma John is a trained 'diviner' and he receives messages from the ancestral world through dreams, trance dancing and 'throwing the bones'.

Each session is a ceremony whereby he chants in isiXhosa and creates a circle with tobacco.

*************
• Plant Healing

Cost: $195

Way of the Leopard in Boulder

The Way of the Leopard: The Art of Listening & Feeling from the Heart of Africa.

Registration is $95 and can be paid athttps://www.paypal.me/JohnLockley. A limited number of discounted tickets will be offered to those experiencing financial hardship. Contact Michael at 406-360-6111 for more information.

African Mindfulness retreat in LA

Mindfulness From Africa : An Authentic Medicine Man from Nelson Mandela's Tribe - A Daylong Retreat

Learn the Art of Listening & Feeling from the Heart of Africa

This retreat will be conducted as a ceremony, with chanting, dancing and meditating. A key intention behind John's teaching is 'uvula indlela', opening the road i.e. teaching people how to find their purpose or calling in life through listening to their hearts, dreams and intuition.

Mindfulness from Africa involves:

  1. Dancing – as we dance we feel our spirit move & connect to our Heart-Beat
  2. Connecting with our Bones – we are the sum total of all our Ancestors
  3. Listening to our Dreams – to truly connect with our soul we need to become    mindful of our Dreams

In order to listen effectively we need to stimulate our nervous system and WAKE UP. The retreat will involve trance dancing or 'shaking medicine' where John will show people how to energise their spines to awaken their intuition.

In South African traditional culture, it is each person's responsibility to connect to their 'Ubuntu' (humanity), and in so doing they realise their unique gifts and become effective members of their community. 'Ubuntu' speaks about US, SHARING, TOGETHERNESS. It is literally translated as, "I am what I am because of who we all are".

§  The ability to feel and listen to our Hearts will be honed through the practice of Heart-Beat meditation and trance dancing.

§  Connecting with Ancestors - John will speak about the importance of honouring our forebears because they have given us the gift of life. A simple ceremony will be conducted to improve our connection to our ancestors.

§  Dreams are the gateway to the spirit world. John will speak about the three levels of dreaming and some simple techniques to harness the power of our dreams.

Benefits to Participants

  • Learning the practice of Heart-Beat meditation
  • An appreciation of Ancestors and how through connecting with them we are connecting with our blood and all of humanity
  • The Ancient Art of Dream Interpretation as understood through the eyes of mystics and seers. John makes this easy to grasp through his teaching of the ‘three levels of dreaming’.

To Book please contact InsightLA (via this link).

John’s book, Leopard Warrior and audio cds ‘Way of the Leopard’ teachings, both published by Sounds True, will be available for purchase and personal signing.

Private Sessions
John will be available for private consultations after the retreat for healings, divinations and counselling/ mentorship. If you need more work with him please speak to the organiser and write your name down. Or you can contact John directly via info@johnlockley.com.

NB: Disclaimer
Please be aware that these techniques are powerful and have the ability to increase your emotions and ability to feel. In traditional South African ceremonies, all feelings whether positive or negative are seen as a good sign and indicate that the medicine is working. John is a simple guide and is not responsible for your emotional well-being. Please take full responsibility for your inner work.

Mindfulness from Africa, Talk in LA

Mindfulness From Africa : An Authentic Medicine Man from Nelson Mandela's Tribe - An Evening Talk

John will be hosted by InsightLA, a unique mindfulness meditation community.

Meet John Lockley, a traditional healer, Medicine man, Shaman (Sangoma) from one of the oldest Shamanic cultures in the world today, the Xhosa nation. John was adopted, apprenticed and trained by his Xhosa teacher, MaMngwevu and other elders for over 10 years.

John’s story is rich and evocative. His journey started at the age of 16 with a prophetic dream. A few years later he worked with Zen Master Su Bong, originally from Hawaii, an old friend of Trudy Goodman. John took part in Zen Master Su Bong’s retreats in South Africa and South Korea which helped lay the groundwork for his own spiritual teaching.

John will talk about his experience of mindfulness from his perspective as a traditional African healer from the rural areas of the Eastern Cape, the home of Nelson Mandela. Amongst traditional healers and elders in South Africa there is no word for mindfulness only ‘listening’ and how deep you can listen. To show that you are listening often requires a ceremony where the Great Spirit and communal Ancestors are honoured and loved.

Visiting Los Angeles for the very first time, South African, John Lockley, will also be talking about his book 'Leopard Warrior', published by Sounds True. This is an account of his remarkable journey in becoming a traditional African Shaman, known as a Sangoma, Diviner or Seer in Nelson Mandela's tribe, the Xhosa nation. It is a story about 'Ubuntu' (humanity), and it shows how in order for John to follow his medicine calling he had to go beyond the constraints of race, colour and social class. This is a ground-breaking book, pioneering consciousness study about African mindfulness, including wilderness work, indigenous shamanism & a deep exploration of dreaming to open your mind & expand your soul.

John will be available for book signings & private sessions.
