Fireside Chat in Boulder

  • Rainbow Medicine Circle 1005 Apple Valley Road Lyons, CO, 80540 United States (map)

Join us for this lively discussion, performance and glimpse into the 'Way of the Leopard' with John Lockley. There will be opportunity to ask John questions and receive a signed copy of his new book "The Leopard Warrior" published by Sounds True.

This is an experience that has touched many hundreds of people around the world as John travels, inviting you to experience the healing energies, beautiful songs, and rhythms from S. Africa. John will talk about the importance of connecting with your senses as a way to still the mind and awaken intuition. The Leopard represents raw, intuitive intelligence and interconnectedness with the natural world. The Leopard reminds us of always listening to their body as a way to help harmonise people with themselves and the natural world. It is his desire to help people reconnect with their ancestors and live fully in their bodies, enabling them to live more satisfied, healthy and happy lives.

John is emerging as a bright star in the global shamanism scene with a newly published book "Leopard Warrior" with Sounds True, upcoming Year of Ceremony presentation, and the global shamanism summit on the Shift Network.

About John Lockley

John is a traditional South African healer or Sangoma from Nelson Mandela’s tribe, the Xhosa nation. Sangoma's are traditional shamans or spiritual doctors. The Sangoma culture is one of the oldest living shamanic cultures in the world today.
John spent over 10 years apprenticing under Mum Ngwevu; a traditional Xhosa woman. He was one of the first white men in recent history in South Africa to complete the rigorous Xhosa Sangoma apprenticeship.

He travels the world teaching ‘Ubuntu’ (humanity) workshops, helping people reconnect with themselves, their ancestors and the natural world.

“In the Xhosa tradition I am referred to as an ‘igqira’, the medicine person who ‘holds the lightning rod of the ancestors’. What this means is that I am a lightning conductor or conductor of earth based ancestral energies. What this means for workshop or talk participants is that through me they have a greater opportunity to connect with their dreams and ancestors. It is not me personally, but rather the spirits around me. I am a simple medicine carrier.”
